MEFF has redundant central HOSTs at its two DPCs located in Madrid.
There are different connectivity solutions adapted to the needs and objectives of the Market Members. From among these possibilities one or more options can be chosen which best suit their requirements.
Duplicate services are also offered to minimise, as much as is possible, the non-availability of the connection.
This connection allows the Market Member to connect with the MEFF Host.
The communications infrastructure (lines, routers and electronics network) is managed by BME.
If necessary, due to the number of connections to be established, two MEFFAccess servers shall be installed at the Market Member's site to process orders and receive public information (Market data).
Communications are performed using two DPCs and preferably using two different telecommunications operators to ensure they continue functioning should there be a fault on one of the lines.
This type of connection can be carried out from any part of the world, although it should be mentioned that in addition to Madrid, BME has connection hubs in Barcelona, Bilbao, Valencia and London.
This connection allows the Market Member to connect with the MEFF Host using a communications infrastructure (lines, routers and electronics network) managed by the Member itself, which connects to the BME routers destined for this purpose.
The connection to the Host is carried out using shared MEFFAccess servers specifically for the members of this type of connectivity. These computers are located at the BME's DPCs (Madrid, Bilbao, Barcelona and Valencia).
Communications are performed using two DPCs and preferably using two different telecommunications operators to ensure they continue functioning should there be a fault on one of the lines.
Trading Member can access MEFF market using an ISV or his Clearing Member direct connection.
The Trading Member is responsible for the connectivity between its premises and MEFF installations at the ISV or Clearing Member.
The Smart-Colo service supplies space (racks) and the communications infrastructure at BME's DPC for the installation of the software and hardware required by the member in order to access the Market.
The technical infrastructure guarantees the same quality of access for all participants.
The platforms that can be accessed, in addition to MEFF trading, are those of SIBE (Shares, ETFs, BME Growth, LatIbex, warrants) and Market Data (BME Market Data).
The Smart-Colo service supplies connectivity solely to the BME markets at the primary DPC, meaning that no connectivity is offered in the event of no availability of the main site.
The installation of the equipment shall be carried out by BME staff or by the Market Member itself, if it so desires.
The connections between the racks with the participant's equipment and BME's systems shall be performed using the same physical distance of cables for all the participants and shall offer two possible connection types:

Should the Member desire, it may request the installation of its hardware in the proximity of Madrid. This room is located at a distance of less than 11 km from the place where the MEFF central system is located, and is managed by a BME company. From here it is possible to access not only MEFF but also the spot market.
MEFF shall install in this very same room a direct connection from the member to MEFF. The room is prepared to have low latencies with the BME headquarters in Las Rozas, where the Central System is located, therefore it has no connections with other MEFF sites where, in the event of an emergency, the market would be located.
The bandwidth of the connection between the site and the Central Systems is 1 Gbps

MEFF offers the possibility of Internet access via a VPN tunnel for those entities whose purpose is not trading, but rather the communication or management of pre-agreed trades (applications).
The data reception capacity by Internet is not guaranteed, therefore MEFF is unable to guarantee the correct functioning of a trading terminal. However, in the case of the communication or management of pre-agreed trades, real-time is not a requirement, subsequently, the Internet connection may be more efficient in terms of cost/benefit.
The communication of pre-agreed trades is understood to be:
